Electronic Braking Systems are one of the most critical safety systems on modern trailers, and one of the most commonly misdiagnosed. A fault in the EBS that isn’t correctly identified and repaired doesn’t just create compliance headaches — it creates genuine safety risk. BRAT Services specialises in EBS diagnosis, repairs and upgrades including being part of the Knorr-Bremse expert network and trained and certified with PIN capabilties in Wabco and Knorr-Bremse, with the diagnostic equipment and hands-on expertise to identify and resolve EBS issues accurately the first time. We have the capability to plug into all three major brands of system, Wabco, Haldex and Knorr Bremese
Whether you’re dealing with a fault code that won’t clear, a system that isn’t performing correctly, or a trailer that needs an EBS upgrade to meet current standards, BRAT Services is the team to call.
One of our core specialties

Electronic Braking System (EBS) technology replaces traditional pneumatic brake control with an electronic control unit that manages brake application more precisely and consistently across trailer axles. EBS systems improve braking performance, reduce brake wear, and are increasingly standard equipment on modern trailers. They also interface with tractor electronic systems, making correct diagnosis and calibration critical for proper system performance.
Using specialised diagnostic equipment, we accurately identify EBS fault codes and system issues — whether it's a sensor fault, wiring issue, valve problem, or ECU fault. Accurate diagnosis is the foundation of an effective repair, and we don't guess.
Once the fault is identified, we carry out targeted repairs using quality components. From sensor replacement and wiring repairs through to valve and modulator replacement, we fix the actual problem rather than replacing parts on spec.
Upgrading older trailers to EBS or updating existing systems to current specifications. EBS upgrades improve braking performance and can assist with compliance requirements for operators running modern prime movers with newer trailer fleets.
Proper EBS calibration ensures the system performs correctly across all axles and interfaces properly with the tractor unit. We carry out calibration following repairs and upgrades to verify correct system operation before the trailer goes back to work.
EBS systems combine pneumatic and electronic components in a way that requires both mechanical and electronic diagnostic expertise. A workshop that doesn't understand EBS architecture can spend hours chasing the wrong fault — costing time and money without fixing the actual problem. BRAT Services has the equipment and the experience to work through EBS faults systematically and efficiently.
EBS faults can keep a trailer off the road. We’re available around the clock for urgent EBS diagnosis and repair — call 0429 457 041 any time.
